My One Good Friend: Stephen Sigurdson

09/11/201507/13/2017 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

A person who comes into your life, everything Changes, awkward and new. A person who you could talk with and talk to, Like we were always together, meant to be. A person who could hold, like two halves Of a pounding heart, never missing a beat. A person who you want to be in every … Continue reading My One Good Friend: Stephen Sigurdson

I Will Do What I Can: Stephen Sigurdson

07/11/201507/13/2017 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

I have a lifelong illness, I'm far from perfect, vulnerable to stress, a desire to be alone, away from people and places. I have an inner voice that sabotages me anytime things are going well. This voice brings me down, negativity resides, going crazy in my mind becoming a common ruminating sound with stigma issues … Continue reading I Will Do What I Can: Stephen Sigurdson

Let Me Be Free: Stephen Sigurdson

06/12/201507/13/2017 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

A ship in a bottle floating to sea, leaves growing in a building on a tree The polar bear at the zoo on display, desiring peace and quiet on this cold day grass being torn out of a football stadium more injuries take place, like people competing in life's ongoing race How does this pertain … Continue reading Let Me Be Free: Stephen Sigurdson

The Boy of Glass: Stephen Sigurdson

05/12/201507/13/2017 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

The Boy of Glass, a reflection of innocence wholeness, too young to be broken. Others tainted, their own innocence lost, seeing a reflection of who they once were, catching a glimpse of themselves looking back in the reflection, not liking what they see. with stone in hand, the glass shatters, just slivers remain, reflecting a … Continue reading The Boy of Glass: Stephen Sigurdson

Color to Light: Stephen Sigurdson

I need to hear your voice, words written by your hand, some communication, hungering for a call, no matter how short the time, or how small. I want to know that you are okay, not wanting to see you hurt or alone, I find it hard to resist a chance at your love, even … Continue reading Color to Light: Stephen Sigurdson

Replay that Tape: Stephen Sigurdson

03/11/201507/13/2017 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

Sometimes when I feel the darkness it helps me to go back to my childhood, remembering a time when I would dream. I would play, I felt accepted, and a security, no matter how beaten up I feel now, that period in my life is somewhere I can escape. It is there, I can remember … Continue reading Replay that Tape: Stephen Sigurdson

From Feather to Pen: Stephen W. Sigurdson

02/11/201507/13/2017 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

A feather, so light, no weight, with freedom, no work, no time, never late. A feather with little or no impact, as it eventually, softly will land, having no destination in mind or tasks at hand. A feather floating, void of tension, able to be one with nature, to let go, in the air, or … Continue reading From Feather to Pen: Stephen W. Sigurdson

TOGETHER There Will Be Light: Stephen W. Sigurdson

09/22/201407/13/2017 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

The look in your eyes makes my beaten soul mend each time triggering a positive trend. My mask is slightly lifted, I take a peak, as you smile and gently speak. I see the integrity that moves with you, I begin to believe that goodness can be true. When I am lonely, I need to … Continue reading TOGETHER There Will Be Light: Stephen W. Sigurdson

About Stephen Sigurdson

I started writing in the early 1990’s, about the same time I was diagnosed with a mental illness. In 2013 I put many of writings into a self-published book entitled, “Lemonade”. Kaleidoscope magazine has offered another voice for myself and others, and it is an honour to have my writing published, helping my self-esteem and self-confidence, at the same time validating many of my experiences. I encourage others to write and explore their experiences, as everybody has a story and many times someone will read it and feel a connection. I have also taken up an interest in creating encaustic and multi-media paintings that I share on Facebook.
