To Love Thyself: C. Fay Shlanda

11/15/2019 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

I have enjoyed the love of another Had the unyielding love of a mother Love that is kind One that was blind A fiery feeling no one could smother I have been witness to a love so true Watched them in awe from afar as it grew A love so fair Without a care Unaware … Continue reading To Love Thyself: C. The Tour: C.Fay Shlanda

08/13/2019 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

Allow my words to take you on a journey Through some of the dark recesses of my mind A long, rocky trip, not for the faint of heart For the light in there is not easy to find. We begin with the expanding loneliness Standing alone, under a burnt out street light It is scanning … Continue reading The Tour: C.Fay Shlanda

Typecast : C.Fay Shlanda

07/10/2019 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

The words I am about to weave for you are what binds me in place. Devices tethered tight to the past, a tragedy transfixed in my future. My mental illness amidst them. This tale is older than my years, my days, my minutes. Spun by millions through the millennia, and dismantled by millions more. I … Continue reading Typecast : C.Fay Shlanda

Redacted: C. Fay Shlanda

05/11/2019 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

Redact To obscure Withdrawing The removal of information There are edited circumstances to consider Its use has become second nature to my survival Images that would haunt me, no longer exist Gone are the phrases used to keep me silent Pains that wracked me, have been edited down Retracted are fears that once held me … Continue reading Redacted: C. Pushing Buttons: C. Fay Shlanda

02/14/2019 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

Push To plunge Knocking over A strike towards Thrusting ideas upon As physical buttons are phased out Emotional buttons are pressed into service Anger is bulldozed and left overexposed While shame gets shouldered into the corner Sadness is propelled into the front lines As happiness gets swept under the rug Illness is prodded into the … Continue reading Pushing Buttons: C. The Look: C. Fay Shlanda

01/11/2019 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

Look. Really look. Take your time. You can see my height, weight, eye colour, and more. My physical body is easy to see. What you may have missed is my physical being. Watch as I describe it. Witness the tapping of my foot, as it shakes its way through my nervousness. Notice the constant movement … Continue reading The Look: C. Fay Shlanda

When the roses came For the girl next door Their fragrance lingered Down the corridor The deep red stood out On her window sill A beacon to say That he loves me still A card stands beside The stunning bouquet Saying he's sorry Can't make it today Now fades the sweet scent That once filled … Continue reading Delivery of a Promise

Guided: C. Fay Shlanda

11/09/2018 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

Hit the ground running and gather no moss The road is wide open to drive across You can bridge the gap and close the divide Climb up the mountain to see a new side The path beneath them is solid and sound They feel secure as they travel the ground Journeys can come with some … Continue reading Guided: C. A Promise Kept: C. Fay Shlanda

10/11/2018 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

Anne finished fussing with her seven year old son's costume and stood back. "Well Mitchel, you make a gruesome zombie." Mitchel made a pained face to show his delight as he moaned and limped about in character. "Grandpa said I would too," he proclaimed. "He chooses this over a superhero costume," Anne muttered as the … Continue reading A Promise Kept: C. Fay Shlanda

Lost and Found By C. Fay Shlanda

09/10/201809/12/2018 ~ kaleidoscopeonline

Unaware of losses suffered Oblivious to what was found Memories sliced into pieces Redirections all around Truth’s made to be disposable Lies used to maintain the norm Self-respect is hidden away Loathing has a space to form Picking out the habits to deal The shedding of hopes and dreams Looking to find a new belief … Continue reading Lost and Found By C. About C. Fay Shlanda

C. Fay Shlanda was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and PTSD in her late 40’s. Anxiety and Depression are also two subjects that she is well acquainted with. Over the last few years since her diagnosis, she has been learning to write about her journey through poetry and short essays.
Using a variety of writing styles, her work speaks to people struggling to express what they experience when mental illness is a part of daily living.
Her goal is to educate people on how to interact with and help people who have mental illness. She sites her late diagnosis as a catalyst to her moving forward in this endeavour.
