Time has flown speedily by,
So the year is now over,
The New Year has begun,
With all its fanfare,
Corks have been popped,
And now lay with their foil cages,
Wishes have been made,
Kisses have been shared,
Flutes sit empty of their contents,
On tables, counters or what not ,
With the crumb filled plates,
That held canapes, petites-fours,
Or other goodies made for the soiree,
Noise makers are scattered here and there,
In evidence of the hopes of its users,
That the event be ever so gay.
