Pining: Susan Maria Rowley

I sit and watch the miles go by
and I just think of you and sigh
so many mountains
so many trees
time passes slowly
I’m down on my knees
praying for an answer
praying for a sign
wondering if you love me
as I coast and I pine
lava fields flow
and geysers spurt
but all I can think
is how much I hurt
the weeks spent without you
becoming a blurr
of motels and truckstops
and things that once were
where are you my darling?
What see you tonight?
I ask as I look
to the stars burning bright
are you gazing up too?
Is the end
soon in sight?
I know when I see you
I won’t let you go
but for now it’s tears that come
and like the rivers flow
