The Sea: Richard Edwards

The sky is dark,
the sky is stark,
it is carrying thunder and lightning,
it is frightening,

The lightning flashed,
thunder boomed,
it spoke to us of our doom,
the forks of lightning fell.

As we are driven into hell,
it is not well,
there is no spell,
cast to cause the clouds,
to loom.

They are our doom,
the lightning lights the sky,
our guise is ruined,
we wonder why.

We are done,
thank you for allowing us to see,
we won’t have any fun,
we have run the gauntlet we were deceived.
