Southern Belle: Marjolaine Brodeur

“Where’s my mint julep?” I feel is an appropriate question as this dome of mugginess seems to be hanging on. Neither do the thunderstorms help because after they’re over they leave humidity behind them which is made less tolerable with the hot temperatures that ensue.

The Southern Belle in me awaits the soon to come cooler temperatures that Fall brings with it as it replaces summer. Another thing that I would like to see is someone else do for me is the cooking of meals and the subsequent clean ups. Exactly like a Southern Belle.

Surely, after all these years spent on earth, I am owed some free time from these chores. And yet, I know that is a pipe dream. But, am I not allowed to dream of a different life? Every human being longs for difference. Not even those people who say that they just accept what comes their way are telling the truth for it is embedded in us to want something to be changed. It is what caused our ancestors to move to a new land and seek its bounty and this has not been excised as the years changed into millennia.

So, “Where’s my mint julep?”
