Why the Subterfuge?: Marjolaine Brodeur

Lately, I have noticed and watched many of the remakes of the Agatha Christie novels and found them unsatisfactory.  In some, they have included Miss Marple where she was never a part of the novels.  Why this desecration of a story (or two) who were capable of the test of time to succeed without Miss Marple?  Do these programmers really not believe that the story cannot hold the public’s attention without the inclusion of either M. Poirot or Miss Marple?

Tuppence and Tommy Beresford never needed Miss Marple’s aid in solving their own mysteries,  Tuppence ability to solve their mysteries that had been set before them.

Then, we were confronted by the change of murderer in another one and the gross detour from the story of another novel.  Why do these programmers infantilize us and not believe in the very strength of the author’s original works?  Which in my mind are the template of the very success of these novels.

No explanation can justify such a dishonour to a respected author’s works and I pray that this practice ends and that we, the viewers, are given the respect due to us as Agatha Christie-philes.
