Magical Ignorance: James Adamson

To the Glory of God
To Gwyneth, with Love

In fine night
The root rots
Relief from release is rented
Tomorrow is the same as yesterday
So let’s screw people over, done and one
Peking duck
Calcium, so let’s kidney stone
Children condemned by obvious use
Feeling loved, surrounded by contempt
Kindness withheld because of the power of your charms
You can’t trust yourself
Everywhere you go darkness descends
There’s always somewhere else to go
Proof of contempt and you laugh
Surrounded by shadows and the sun rises
Wisdom says your attraction to women is vain
Then every woman causes arousal
Arousal and lust aren’t the same thing
No one seems to know
Three days under the stars and the billboards keep coming
Thrown in prison for ten days and nothing seems out of the ordinary
Jesus must be trying to help and He died on the cross saying no one has the right to judge
That contrition is power
And if no one listens remember the word only facilitates power
A box from your family looks like everyone kicked it
All children’s books seem to have a sad ending
The only difference with Steinbeck is the mention of sex
Rock and Roll is merely release because of the stupid names of the bands
Loving a movie star only begs the question, don’t they love too?
Every stupid thing you say seems to become a fad
Laughter isn’t necessarily disrespect
It doesn’t matter how small the chance is, everyone matters
Everywhere you go Oliver Stone is wisdom
Used to be you were just a little space cadet
The States were going to take over in twenty years
That’s come and gone
Every day is a new day and yesterday it was all good but it fell apart
What seems self-evident always has to be explained
If you don’t believe in magic you will never see it
But no one you talk to has seen it or believes you have
You just keep trying to love because that’s all there is
The magic of ignorance is that it may teach you the truth
And it preserves your life while you’re learning
We all must experience disobedience to be humbled
A son or a slave
Stupid or ignorant, who knows?
Darkness doesn’t perceive the light and the light shines from the darkness
And that may be you
Watching as the Peking duck finds home
Life is a story for a child
But we have to learn to Rock and Roll
